Paul Gooch
Paul Gooch is an internationally recognized Supply Chain expert with more than 30 years experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, International Trade, Customer Service, Work Process Reengineering, and M&A Project Management in the oil and chemical industry.
Paul Was A Career Executive With The Dow Chemical Company For More Than 25 Years. He Held Regional Leadership Roles In The United Kingdom And Benelux, And Subsequently Became European Logistics Director With Responsibility For A $500m Spend, Logistics Work Process Owner And Global Director For Dow’s International Trade And Marine Container Activities. He Was Also European Customer Service Leader, And A Global Leader For Dow’s Shared Services Implementation Center.
Logistics Consulting Experience
Paul’s clients have included a global petrochemical distributor where he was an interim Logistics Development Manager (this included the development of inbound supply chains from Asia to Europe), a Mid East producer of OPP films exploring an alternative supply chain into Western Europe, a global bulk liquid storage company seeking advice on major project investments.
An international Specialty Chemical company requiring supply chain leadership for M&A, a Mid East Specialty Chemicals producer seeking development of a Logistics strategy, a North American Midstream Chemical Cluster requiring a Site Requirements Study, and various industry associations, and international consulting companies.
Paul has completed a logistics best practice assessment for a major supplier of power stations and generators. He has also advised a major global chemical company on operational excellence, and supported a global oleo-chemical company in the development of their logistics strategy and an Order-to-Cash work process re-engineering project.
He completed a freight and distribution optimisation project for an aviation MRO company (>20% savings), delivered a logistics training course on behalf of ICIS, and ran a two-day logistics management workshop for a specialty chemical company. He advised an international transportation company on developing an out-sourced site logistics solution in the Middle East . More recently he supported a freight optimisation project for a chemical company delivering >12% savings.
Other Activities
Paul is a founder member of the European Petrochemical Association (EPCA) Supply Chain Think Tank, first established in 2003, and contributed to a number of reports on Supply Chain best practice, collaboration and chemical clusters (most recently the EPCA report on Sustainable Chemical Supply and Logistics Chains).
Paul has been a Member of the Global Advisory Board of Fritz Companies, a member of the European Petrochemical Association (EPCA) Logistics Committee, a member of the European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC) Logistics Committee, Chairman of the Board, Chemical Distribution Institute (CDI), and a member of Gerson Lehrman Group. He is a regular speaker on Logistics at Industry Conferences in Europe, Middle East, and North America.
